Community Service

FACT members and friends head out every single month to make an impact in our community.  This includes making and serving meals at Haven for Hope, sorting food at the San Antonio Food Bank, planting trees and having river cleanups with the San Antonio River Authority, abating graffiti with the City of San Antonio, constructing onsite ramps with the Texas Ramps Project, and distributing direct aid to our friends and neighbors experiencing homelessness as a part of the DIRECT program.  DIRECT stands for Direct Impact Relief Efforts for Community Transformation, a program created largely in response to severe winter weather that greatly harmed friends and neighbors in our city.

Lecture Series

Typically falling on the 3rd Saturday of the month, FACT hosts educational speakers and entertainment.  Thanks to generous members and donors, these events are largely free and open to the public, including non-members, to maximize the benefit to the community.  Amazing guests have included: Mandisa Thomas, President of Black Nonbelievers, Dr. Darrel Ray, Founder of Recovering From Religion and the Secular Therapy Project, Alix Jules, activist and board member for Foundation Beyond Belief, and so many more.  If a lecture was recorded, you can see it online on our YouTube page.

Local Outreach and Activism

For those who have left a church home, it can be difficult to find like-minded, local people to fulfill that social need.  At various times during the month, FACT will host events like: family game nights, winter solstice parties, book clubs. and lunches to aid in providing this vital need.  Also, in order to reach out to the greater San Antonio community, FACT will sponsor and table at Pride events, collaborate with the Secular Student Alliance @ UTSA, and even join marches in the streets for worthy causes.
