    Meeting expectations and decorum:

The FACT collaborative events brings to San Antonio great thinkers, movers, & shakers in the Atheist, Humanist, and Science communities. It is expected that we each come with our own experiences, opinions, and knowledge of the humanist philosophy. Although at times the topics may bring some to an emotional place, both good and bad we all agree to: Listen & be present, be respectful of the speakers and the audience, keep cell phones on silent, take calls and conversations away from the audience, ask clear, brief questions during the question and answer clearly as disruptive behavior will not be tolerated

We have many other forums including the Denny's Breakfast and the lunches where less formal conversations can take place!

There is to be no personal unauthorized soliciting at the FACT lectures. While FACT and our speakers do often sell merchandise, we ask that visitors do not bring any merchandise or pass out brochures unless it is cleared with the FACT President or VP.

All FACT members are volunteers, and ALL of the money goes to the cost of event itself, including when applicable, venue cost, speaker travel & honorarium, advertising, "FACT thank you" plaques, and all other costs in supplies and support.

Is Darwinian evolution established fact, or a dogma ready to be overtaken by "intelligent design"? This is the debate raging in courtrooms and classrooms across the country.

Why Intelligent Design Fails assembles a team of physicists, biologists, computer scientists, mathematicians, and archaeologists to examine intelligent design from a scientific perspective. They consistently find grandiose claims without merit.

Contributors take intelligent design's two most famous claims--irreducible complexity and information-based arguments--and show that neither challenges Darwinian evolution. They also discuss thermodynamics and self-organization; the ways human design is actually identified in fields such as forensic archaeology; how research in machine intelligence indicates that intelligence itself is the product of chance and necessity; and cosmological fine-tuning arguments.

Intelligent design turns out to be a scientific mistake, but a mistake whose details highlight the amazing power of Darwinian thinking and the wonders of a complex world without design.
