The Clergy Project was launched in March 2011 to create a safe and secure Online Community of Forums composed entirely of current and former religious leaders who no longer hold to supernatural beliefs.  In view of their deep privacy concerns, and the danger to their careers if they are “outed”, the Clergy Project provides a safe, secure private forum for them to share with others facing the same dilemma.  Currently, there are hundreds of active participants coming from a wide range of religious and cultural backgrounds, including Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Scientology, and more than thirty different segments of Christianity..

Drew Bekius holds a Master’s degree from Moody Bible College and was an evangelical preacher in his teens.  He now says, “As a committed and serious student of the scriptures, I had found a satisfactory way to spin just about any verse in the Bible to make it fit just right within my theological system.”  And yet, by 2010, doubts began to creep in and he could not reconcile them with his deep reading of the Bible.  By 2012, he decided “Either Christian ministry was unfit for this world or I was unfit for Christian ministry, but either way I had to leave.”

Drew is now involved in Humanist Coaching, and has just published a book:The Rise and Fall of Faith: A God-to-Godless Story for Christians and Atheists.    (Pitchstone Publishing), which will be available for signing at the meeting.
